How and when did the two of you meet?

We met at work. Connor was a casual at work in the BBQ section at Bunnings and I was working in the kids craft club. Connor would help me with the classes and when we went out to the community with garden projects. Our friendship began there and the rest is history.

Tell us all about your proposal story:

I love this story. In the lead up to our engagement, Connor had a huge car accident which left him in a neck brace for 3 months when breaking his neck. From there, we both knew we were serious with each other and started looking for engagement rings (I would always leave him hints). On December 26th, we always have a family gathering of both families at my parents place. When Connor’s parents arrived, they called everyone together and asked Connor and I to sit down as they had a “gift” for us. When I was getting a chair, I turned around and Connor was down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. It was so perfect, we were surrounded by all the people we loved and I couldn’t have planned it better myself.

What does marriage mean to you?

Marriage means love and devotion until the day we die – Connor

Marriage means always supporting, loving, caring and being the best of friends. – Alex

Why did you choose Hideaway Weddings?

Hideaway was our one and only choice for the venue of our wedding. We couldn’t fault the venue, the team and the overall level of care and attentiveness we were given from the team at Hideaway. I would recommend this venue to all our friends and family wanting a venue that is intimate, beautiful and memorable for years to come.

Describe your theme for the day and the inspiration behind it:

Our theme of our wedding was rustic romance. Plenty of candles, eucalyptus and roses and a warm atmosphere.

Did you incorporate any traditions or perhaps do something a little different?

We created our own memorial table for our family and friends that could not be there on the day. It was a really special touch, that made us feel like they were always there through the ceremony and the reception.

What were the highlights of your day for you? (Connor)

Getting to see Alex for the first time in her dress. She looked so perfect and I couldn’t control my emotions. I am not a very emotional person but I just lost it when I saw her. She always is beautiful to me but, on our wedding day, where everything was perfect, it was a really special moment I will never forget.

What were the highlights of your day for you? (Alexandria)

I could not pin point a part of the day I could highlight as a favourite, but hearing my new husband’s vows to me was a real special moment I won’t be able to forget in my lifetime. They were so special and heartfelt, I was a sobbing mess the whole time. It was so beautiful.

Any tips or words of wisdom to offer other couples?

Take in every minute of the day, as it is over in such a flash. Don’t sweat the small stuff (easy to say, hard to do) If something goes wrong, no one else knows except you. Don’t worry about it and don’t let it ruin your day.

Did you enjoy a honeymoon? If so, how and why did you choose your destination?

We loved our honeymoon. We went to Port Douglas for a week. We haven’t had a such a relaxing holiday before, it was so lovely to enjoy each others company and reflect on our amazing day.
