Blaize & Brendan

Brendan took me to our favourite place to visit, Montville. He had planed the whole weekend, I had no idea what exactly was happening. He said it was for our birthdays, as they are close together and around that time. I booked us in to this restaurant and told the staff it was for our birthdays. As the staff were coming up to us singing “Happy Birthday”, Brendan was trying to grab my attention and say a heartfelt speech, but I was focusing on the staff bringing the cake. Once the staff left Brendan was trying to finish his speech but was getting so nervous that he half threw the ring at me and shouted ‘Marry Me”. I froze and had no idea what was happening, and then picked up the ring and he asked me again -and of course I said yes, and cried!
What does marriage mean to you?
Blaize – Besides knowing that I get to spend the rest of my life with my best friend and my love, it also means that I get the chance to have the same last name as my partner and son. I officially become a part of the family!
Brendan – Marriage to me means that I get to spend the rest of my life with the one person I love the most in the world.
Why did you choose The Hideaway?
We chose The Hideaway for many reasons, but the main reason was the beautiful gardens. While planning, all I wanted was an outside wedding in the gardens, and The Hideaway had the perfect setup for that! Plus we got the supplier package deal where The Hideaway found and organised all our suppliers, as well as our decorations, and all we had to focus on was the rings and our attire! This made it stress-free for us, considering we found out we were pregnant while planning, and when our wedding day came around our boy was only 5 months old.
Describe your theme for the day
As I wanted a simple outdoor wedding, I chose to stick with greenery and a woodland/rustic theme. Nothing over the top, just something simple yet elegant. The Hideaway’s white floral arrangements and long greenery runners matched the bouquets beautifully, as well as the wood stumps aligning with our wooden coaster favours – it all tied in so well.
Blaize’s highlight of the day
One of my favourite parts of the night was when Brendan called me his Wife. Just hearing it for the first time felt surreal!
Also, having amazing family and friends travel near and far to come and see us become one. It was so rewarding to be surrounded by so many people who love us.
Brendan’s highlight of the day
The best part of the whole day was seeing my new wife walk through the door and down the aisle towards me. I was an emotional mess and could not stop tearing up. I have never seen anything so beautiful in my life – and to think I was about to marry her and spend the rest of my life with her!
Tips or words of wisdom for future brides/grooms-to-be
Enjoy the day, because it goes so fast! Take 5 minutes to walk with each other somewhere private, and spend some time alone. The day is so busy that it’s nice to have a few minutes to yourselves.
