How and when did the two of you meet?
Jerry and I met back in 2018. We had both been talking online for months before we decided to take a leap and meet each other in person. I drove over 8 hours every week to continue to spend time with Jerry, and we grew fonder of each other each time
Tell us all about your proposal story
It was Christmas Eve. We spent the day gardening on our farm in Beerwah. When the evening came we went inside, where Jerry had lit candles, put on romantic music, and poured us beverages. The mood was set…and Jerry gave me a small picture frame, which completely saddened my hope for a proposal. I acted happy, but really I was disappointed. While I was looking down at the frame, Jerry got down on one knee and pulled a small box out of nowhere. Jerry opened the box and asked me to marry him. I, of course, said yes.
What does marriage mean to you?
Marriage is the sacred bond of two people. Its build on the foundations of trust, honesty, and respect. Marriage to me [Brendan] is where two people find better in each other and care about one another more than anything in the entire world.
Why did you choose Hideaway Weddings?
Hideaway Wedding was our first and only option. Upon viewing, we knew this was the place for us. Only 5 minutes from home, this magical place reminded us of all the natural things we love. The owners and staff were so approachable, understanding, and wonderful to deal with. They made everything from start to finish easy and communicated with us the entire time. The whole thing felt easy. Amanda and her team go the extra mile to ensure your special day is everything you could dream of.
Describe your theme for the day and the inspiration behind it:
We really stuck with the nature theme provided by the beauty of the Hideaway.
Did you incorporate any traditions or perhaps do something a little different?
We included our beautiful dog, Karma, as our flower girl and ring bearer. She walked down the aisle, accompanied by our mum, wearing a bright pink floral collar and lead with our rings tied around her neck.
What were the highlights of your day for you?
Brendan: The highlight of my day was standing in front of our beautiful friends and family as we made our final steps into being husband and husband.
Jerry: Exchanging our rings.
Any tips or words of wisdom to offer other couples?
Don’t rush; take the time and make your day special. We are both extremely time-poor people and the entire process, on top of work, was mentally draining at times. Take some time, take a holiday, go on a trip and dedicate that time to planning your special day.
Did you enjoy a honeymoon? If so, how and why did you choose your destination?
Yes, we both thoroughly enjoyed our honeymoon. We firstly went to Tamborine Mountains and rented a small, rustic cabin with no WIFI and reception. It had a beautiful spa overlooking nature and came equipped with a selection of DVD’s to watch by the fireplace (which is so nice in 4-degree weather). We then set off to Cavil Avenue on the Gold Coast and stayed at the Mantra on Circle on Cavil. We hit the nightlife, saw some shows, spend hundreds on naughty cocktails, and enjoyed the sound and view of the seaside view from our apartment.
