How and when did the two of you meet?

We met roughly nine years ago at a high school awards night in year 10. We were sat together alphabetically and struck up conversation. I then reached out to Caity online and we began talking online and hanging out in the summer holidays of 2013.

Tell us all about your proposal story:

We have a special place on the Sunshine Coast, where we spend almost every weekend walking our dog. I proposed to Caity by having a surprise picnic set up one afternoon and pretending to fly my drone onto the picnic as a surprise landing pad. It was pretty cheesy but I got a sneaky film of the whole thing, which is pretty funny to watch back now.

What does marriage mean to you?

Caity and I already had seen our future together even before we were married, with a house in our names and multiple pets. We did want to celebrate our love and the continued vision of our lives together with our closest friends and family. That’s exactly what our wedding meant to us.

Why did you choose Hideaway Weddings?

We loved the beautiful mix of indoor and outdoor scenes and the staff made the whole experience so easy to plan. We pulled the whole thing off within 8 weeks and so much of that was thanks to the team at Hideaway.

Describe your theme for the day and the inspiration behind it:

Our theme for the day was pretty neutral but with the bridesmaids wearing beautiful rust dresses and a mix of oranges, browns and reds through our Australian native florals by A Rustic Affair.

Did you incorporate any traditions or perhaps do something a little different?

We kept it pretty relaxed and really stuck to what we wanted for the wedding relating to traditions. Caity was walked down the aisle by both of her parents and we really just focused on making the day a great time for us and all of our friends and family that we were so lucky to have there with us.

What were the highlights of your day?

There were so many! Other than obviously those precious moments reading our vows to one another, I really loved dancing with Caity, my nieces and our wedding party.

Any tips or words of wisdom to offer other couples?

Find that person who enriches so many aspects of your life, that there’s a void without their presence. Who loves you and understands you deeply and can be there for you to enjoy the best moments of life, support you through the worst and make the everyday ones just that bit better.

Did you enjoy a honeymoon? If so, how and why did you choose your destination?

We have a roadtrip down south planned for later in the year which we both can’t wait for.
