How and when did the two of you meet?

We met about 8 years ago through mutual friends. We hit it off like wild fire and have been together for just over 7 years.

Proposal Story

Caleb had the ring for months, but was waiting for the right moment to propose. With no real plan, we headed up to the Sunshine Coast and went walking up the beach with our fur baby, Rae. We ended at the lighthouse at the top of Point Cartwright, where overlooking the ocean, Caleb got down on one knee.

What does marriage mean to you?

Life long companionship, commitment and unconditional love and support.

Why did you choose The Hideaway?

We loved the location and natural scenery on offer. The Hideaway team made everything seem so easy for us, particularly with planning a wedding in only a couple of months!

Describe your theme for the day and the inspiration behind it

We wanted a relaxed feel, and simple set up that complimented the naturally beautiful surroundings.

Did you incorporate any traditions or perhaps do something a little different?

With only a relatively intimate group of close family and friends, we chose not to a have bridal party, and loved the chance to be more involved with all of our guests. We also had our puppy dog Rae as our ring bearer!

Caleb’s highlight of the day

How easy and smooth the Hideaway team made everything feel. It really gave us the chance to enjoy and take in the whole day. Our photographer Shae was incredible and so much fun to work with! The whole vibe of the day was so much fun! I also had such a beautiful bride!! 🙂

Emily’s highlight of the day

All vendors and the Hideaway team communicated so well with each other, which made the day no fuss! We were so relaxed and able to take it all in.

Walking down the aisle with my father to my handsome (now) husband was magical.

We also had so much fun taking photos with our photographer, Shae.

Tips or words of wisdom for future brides/grooms-to-be

Don’t sweat the small stuff. At every opportunity, be sure to stop and appreciate all the people that have come to celebrate YOU as a couple! It is truly magical, and goes by so fast.

Did you enjoy a honeymoon? If so, how and why did you choose your destination?

We originally planned to go to Tasmania for our honeymoon, but with the domestic travel restrictions, we decided to make the most of what Queensland has on offer and enjoyed a few nights on the Sunshine Coast and Hinterland, and then flew up to the Whitsundays. We spent 4 nights on Long Island, and our final 3 nights on Day Dream Island. The Whitsundays has been magical with plenty of days spent in the warm water snorkeling, kayaking and scuba diving.
