Proposal Story

We were in the process of building our tiny house in Brisbane during January 2018. After spending the day working on the house, Sam and I decided to relax with some wine and nibbles overlooking the dam inside of our half built home.

After playing some music on our portable speakers, Sam switched the song over to one that was quite familiar. It was a song that has been very special to us since meeting back in 2011. While I watched Sam began to fumble nervously through the picnic rug, I started to get an idea of what might be happening.

He pulled out a small wooden box and popped the question with our two dogs by our side. It was simple and low key. A beautiful memory that we’ll have forever!

Why did you choose The Hideaway?

We really loved the idea of having a rainforest setting where we could have both the ceremony and reception in one location. Beerwah Hideaway was the only place that we had found and visited, and it was safe to say we fell in love instantly. From the staff to the venue itself, the Hideaway is truly magical, we feel that they encapsulated our day perfectly to represent us.

Describe your theme for the day

Rustic & boho with elements of the rainforest and nature. We wanted to keep it quite simple, allowing for the timber and greenery to be the main features.

Sam’s highlight of the day

Catching up with all of our friends and family on the deck and the lawn during the canapes. It was a very relaxed atmosphere, the music was playing and everyone seemed to be having a great time.

Simone’s highlight of the day

The reception was beautiful, looking around throughout the evening and seeing lots of smiling faces from our loved ones really warmed my heart. Our first dance was so much fun as well, everyone got up and joined in resulting in one big dance party!

Tips or words of wisdom for future brides/grooms-to-be

Stay calm and enjoy the process leading up to your big day. Our vendors were incredible and we loved working with them all. We gave them a rough idea of what we wanted for our day as far as a theme and colours go. It was so nice to see their creative work all come together in the one space! As for the day itself, allow yourself to take in every moment you can. Everyone is there to celebrate your love for one another, even if the plans change, it all comes together beautifully in the end!
